From Backstage to On stage
Perle Solvès grew up behind the scenes of musical theater and jazz. With her parents, she grew up with the sound of the saxophone and flute playing through the home, dance rehearsals and festivals. Theater, dance, she integrated these disciplines one by one, with a musical theatre course at the conservatory in Paris. She dreamed of going to Broadway or the West End and found herself in the Parisian Master classes of Jack Waltzer, a member of the Actor Studio who changed her vision of the profession. A year later she started studying at the American Musical Theater Academy of London (AMTA).

London
The die was cast, it is in the English capital that she explored live performance and where she lived for five years. The singer made a place for herself, she discovered the power of rock influences in the show « Godspell », which she performed on a West End Stage, met Lisandro Nesis, founder of the company « Broadway au carré » promoting American contemporary musical theatre in France. He invited her to participate in numerous projects, including a show staged in Paris, « My life is a musical ». Involved in a community of artists living in London, Perle Solvès joined the « West end Frenchies » a federation dedicated to promoting international exchange between Musical Theatre practitioners in London, founded by Samuel Sené, conductor, composer-arranger, director and principal of Musidrama. In June 2020, he invited her to become the first English voice of « C-o-n-t-a-c-t », a poetic creation that plays with the spirit of our « sociallydistant times ».

The first EP
Perle recorded a first EP « Just a matter of time » which was released on all streaming platforms on September 4th 2020. With Alban Sautour, musician and artistic director of the project, the singer has found a good listener within the album, with an expertise in sound which is something that fascinates her. By developing her melodies with a loop station, she grasps the balance between frequencies, and vibrations. With Lucy Hutchinson, author, playwright and actress she met in London, she co-wrote the text of the song and eponymous title of the album Just a matter of time. Her voice rings vibrant. The folk-pop tones of the project, and the catchy melodies paint the portrait of a genuine, authentic young woman with a powerful voice. Each song, accompanied by the arrangements, recounts all the questions that escort the individual as they face the passage towards the light, to the emancipation of oneself. From her life in London, Perle Solvès retains something essential: how enriching cultural diversity is. And « Just a matter of time » reveals a delicate voice that is searching for growth.

Les gammes, le souffle
D’origine Corse, Perle Solvès a grandi dans les coulisses du théâtre musical et du jazz. Avec ses parents, elle a vécu les gammes, le souffle du sax, de la flûte. Théâtre, danse, elle a intégré ces disciplines une à une et a intégré une classe de comédie musicale au conservatoire. Elle rêvait de se rendre à Broadway ou dans le West End et se retrouve dans les Master class parisiennes de Jack Waltzer, membre de l’Actor Studio. Un an plus tard elle intègre l‘American Musical Theater Academy of London (AMTA).

Londres
Les dés sont jetés, c’est dans la capitale anglaise qu’elle explore le spectacle vivant et où elle habite pendant cinq ans. La musicienne se fait une place. Elle découvre la puissance des influences rock dans le spectacle « Godspell », qu’elle interprète sur une scène du West End, fait la connaissance de Lisandro Nesis, fondateur de la compagnie « Broadway au carré » et promoteur de la comédie musicale contemporaine américaine en France. Il l’invite dans de nombreux projets dont un spectacle monté à Paris « My life is a musical ». Impliquée dans le milieu des artistes résidant à Londres, Perle Solvès rejoint le bureau de la fédération du théâtre musical francophile ou « West end Frenchies », fondée par Samuel Sené, chef d’orchestre, compositeur-arrangeur, metteur en scène et directeur pédagogique des ateliers Musidrama. En juin 2020, il l’invite à devenir la première voix anglaise de « C-o-n-t-a-c-t », une création poétique qui se joue de l’air du temps « dans le respect des gestes barrière ».

Un premier EP
Perle Solvès enregistre en 2020 un premier EP « Just a matter of time ». Ce projet sort sur les plateformes le 4 septembre 2020. Auprès d’Alban Sautour, musicien et directeur artistique du projet, la chanteuse a trouvé une écoute et l’expertise du son qui la fascine. À force de développer ses mélodies au looper, elle saisit l’équilibre mathématique des jeux de fréquences, des vibrations. Avec Lucy Hutchinson, autrice, dramaturge et actrice rencontrée à Londres, elle a coécrit le texte du morceau et titre éponyme de l’album Just a matter of time. La voix est vibrante, la tonalité folk-pop du projet, incluant des ballades inspirées de la tradition anglaise, et des refrains entêtants, brossent le portrait d’une jeune femme sincère, authentique, à la voix puissante. Chaque chanson, accompagnée au plus près par les arrangements, raconte toutes les interrogations qui escortent l’individu au moment d’affronter le passage vers la lumière, l’affranchissement de soi. Du brassage londonien Perle Solvès retient l’essentiel, la richesse de l’altérité. « Just a matter of time » révèle toute la finesse d’une voix qui cherche et grandit.
